This Cobra is a rare car indeed. Only 3,054 Cobras were produced in for '71. Add in the desirable options this car has and you probably will not see another copy out there.

 

As a fun note, this car was delivered to the Ford Marketing Corp located at Wilshire Boulevard's Studio & TV in Los Angeles. It was ordered under a 'Civic & Government Affairs Vehicle' special DSO. Who knows, it might even been in the background of the original Dirty Harry movie, just look for a cool cat squealing some tire.

This one is incredibly solid without much of the normal rust of the breed. Thank the Southern California weather (and being off the road since 1984) for that. We haven't found any signs of rust on the car. Doors, quarters, floors, trunk, cowl, etc all look excellent with no signs of prior repair. The panels all align very well, another testament to a good car. At some point in time a vinyl top was added. When it came to us the top was long gone but the trim holes are present and would be easily filled as they are small. The doors open & close easily, the hood has survived without the 'Torino Kink'. If you want a Cobra to build, this is it.

Under the hood the 351 is the original Numbers Matching with the correct cylinder heads, intake, block, etc. The factory carb has been replaced with a new Edelbrock and it does run nicely. The C6 goes into gear quickly and shifts properly. The brakes have been serviced with a new booster, master & rear wheel cylinders.

The original hubcaps have somehow managed to stay with the car. New Cooper Cobra tires were just installed.

The electrical system functions properly with turn signals, brake & marker lights all working nicely. Charging system functions nicely too.
